Information
Sensei Courtney started martial arts at Martial Arts Queensland in 2015 under Matthew Cugola in the style of Ronin Ryu Jujitsu and earned her Shodan in 2024. During her time at Martial Arts Queensland, she was also learning Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, leading to her expertise in Atemi Waza and Ne Waza. Sensei Courtney also assists in teaching Ronin Ryu at Martial Arts Queensland
In 2020 with the introduction of Sensei Kyle at Martial Arts Queensland, Sensei Courtney took an interest in Judo to further her knowledge of Nage Waza. This also introduced her to Shihan Jim Stackpoole and began her journey in Kyushin Ryu Jujitsu, earning her Senior Brown Belt at the end of 2022 after she was re-evaluated into the Kyushin Ryu syllabus.
At the start of 2023, Sensei Courtney began assisting Sensei Kyle in a new Kyushin Ryu dojo held at Martial Arts Queensland. In mid 2023 she was awarded her Senior Brown Belt Black Tip after an impressive performance at the Annual Skills Competition where was also awarded the Most Outstanding Competitor.
Sensei Courtney began her final journey towards her Shodan in Kyushin Ryu at the beginning of 2024 and earned it in December 2024.
Sensei Courtney is also studying for her PhD in Immune Surveillance in Diseases.
