Information

Sensei Kyle joined Jujitsu at age 8 at the start of 2006 after moving to Brisbane with his family in late 2005. He was introduced to Kyushin Ryu Jujitsu by grandfather Kyoshi Joe Elkenhans.

Kyle achieved Sub Junior Brown in 2008, Junior Brown in 2011 and Senior Brown with Black Tip in 2015. After turning 14 and joining the Seniors he helped sempai the Sub-Juniors and Juniors at the Zillmere and Sandgate Dojos.

In 2013, he became the youngest Accredited Coach in Australia at 15. He also started studying Judo under Shihan Jim Stackpoole and Sensei Meladee at the newly founded Kyushin Ryu Jujitsu Judo Club. He has since achieved his 3rd Kyu (Green Belt) and has competed at the QLD State Championships in 2018.

He was awarded 10 Year service award for 10 continuous years in service to Kyushin Ryu Jujitsu in 2016 at the annual Kyushin Ryu Competition.

After achieving Senior 1st Kyu and training for a year he achieved Sho Dan (1st degree Black Belt) in November 2016, being presented his Black Belt by his grandfather Kyoshi Joe Elkenhans. Upon achieving his Sho Dan, Kyle helped coach at both the Zillmere and Sandgate Dojos.

In November 2017, Kyle was selected to represent Australia in the World Jujitsu Titles at the Gold Coast as a competitor in the Sports Jujitsu. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury in one of his fights and was forced to withdraw from the World Titles.

Upon taking time to recover from his injuries at the end of 2017, Sensei Kyle took the role of Head Coach of the Pine River Dojo at the start of 2018 with the assistance of Sensei Andrew.

After training for another year, he achieved the rank of Ni Dan (2nd degree Black Belt) in May 2019, alongside Sensei Andrew and Sensei Tyler who achieved their Sho Dan ranks. During late 2019 Sensei Kyle stepped back from coaching to focus on his studies, returning at the start of 2020 to continue coaching at the Pine Rivers Dojo.

He has since been promoted to San Dan (3rd Degree Black belt) in October 2020 and is now employed under another Kyushin Ryu Black Belt, Matthew Cugola (5th Degree) at his academy Martial Arts Queensland

From lat-2020 to mid-2021, Sensei Kyle spent his time cataloging the techniques of Kyushin Ryu Jujitsu on their new YouTube channel to record the history and to provide the standards for future generations.

Sensei Kyle has competed in the 2021 Australian National Judo Championships and placed 2nd in the Kyu Senior Men u90kg division.
Currently he is working towards obtaining Shodan (Black Belt) in Judo while also studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
